My approach to coaching is practical and kind and aimed at supporting people to become allies rather than bullies towards themselves. I want people to feel connected to their own strengths, intuition, and creativity in a world hell-bent on convincing us we are broken and need to be fixed. I’ve helped people kickstart an artistic practice; work through hurdles that are coming up in their leadership or relationships; navigate major life transitions; bring a creative project to completion; and develop a daily practice that helps ground them.
I draw from many parts of my life and training in this work. I was a student and then teacher of the body-based healing modality generative somatics from 2008-2018, and started a one-on-one somatic coaching practice in New York City in 2014. I’ve been a visiting teaching artist at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, Yale Norfolk School of Art, the Whitney Independent Study Program, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Wendy’s Subway, the Poetry Project, and many universities where I’ve led workshops on the creative process, writing, and humor. I’ve also participated in social justice movements for the past twenty years, and have provided group facilitation for a number of organizations. These experiences have shaped my compassionate and pragmatic approach to working with people one-on-one.
I see clients remotely and at a pace and frequency that makes sense for them. If you are interested in exploring work together, you can use this link to schedule a short consultation call.
Client testimonials:
"It's not an exaggeration to say coaching with Morgan changed my life. When I met them, I was burned out and had to make a career change, but I couldn't see a path forward. Luckily Morgan did. Through coaching with Morgan, all of the dreams I'd secretly written in my journal are coming true: I'm directing visionary organizing work in my beloved Appalachia, I'm writing a book, I'm a public speaker, and I have a loving community around me. If you get the opportunity to work with Morgan, do it. You're worth it." -Beth Howard, Showing Up for Racial Justice Appalachia Director
“Working with Morgan saved/changed my life. I came to them as a new client with a desire to heal my sexuality, as a queer survivor of CSA. Six months later I was walking out of a broken relationship with courage, dignity, and power. Another year later I had begun writing daily and finally launched the blog I’d always wanted to. Morgan is a special being with many gifts, and somatic coaching is one of them, alongside their creativity and humor!” -NR
